Hey, Mama...

Today is Mother's day. A day to celebrate motherhood and the love and sacrifice that goes with it.
I am surrounded by all kinds of mothers, and today, I think each one needs to be recognized.

Today is probably a hard day for you. I have been where you are and I understand the feeling of longing that today brings. I want to remind you that God is so faithful and His timing is perfect. Try your best to soak in the love of your family. I am sure your heart is frustrated, but I just want you to know that you are not forgotten today. Please don't be afraid to talk with others about your feelings. You are valued, loved, appreciated, and important. If today is a hard day, don't struggle through it on your own! Much love to you!

This is such a special time in the journey that is motherhood. Soak in every prod and kick because before you know it, you will be told it is time to push! Whether you are planning a home birth that is all natural, or a hospital birth with every drug they will offer you... you go girl! You got this and you don't need to be afraid. You are a champ. You have made it through morning sickness, sleepless nights, and maybe you've already experienced Braxton Hicks. You CAN do this, your instincts will kick in. The best advice I can give is that you have a good support team to cheer you on and some music that is encouraging to you. Every contraction is worth that final prize. Soon you will be holding that beautiful baby in your arms.

As you may have already experienced, everybody has opinions. Strong, passionate opinions. Breast vs. formula feeding, co-sleeping vs. crib sleeping, cry it out vs. don't cry it out, scheduling vs. demand feeding... the list goes on. Unfortunately, with all of these opinions, first times moms feel like they are doing it wrong. It becomes really easy to question every decision. Someone will always think you are doing it right, and someone will always think you are doing it all wrong. But here is the TRUTH... you are that child's mother, and you are doing just fine. You are the one God chose for this child and you are the one best qualified for the job. Give that child as much love as you can and the rest will figure itself out. Today is a day to celebrate the challenges you have already overcome, and the moments yet to experience. Maybe the gift you desire today is a nap, which is totally understandable. Welcome to motherhood, right?!

Where would we be without our veteran mamas!? You are the ones who encourage and mentor. You have probably seen just about everything and very few things surprise you. You have had multiple babies, raised them up through terrible 2's and teenage drama. You deserve a round of applause. I am asking you to share your wisdom. Don't miss opportunities to come along side new moms who are trying to figure things out. Share your experiences and your advice, but mostly just love us. Us new moms need to hear we are doing things right, that our babies are beautiful, and that every stage is important. I hope you know how important you are. You have not only influenced your own kids, but also fellow moms. Good job mama, you are truly a super-hero.

You are watching your babies have babies. From what I have been told, this is a really special experience. The love is different than that you have for your own kids. Thank you, grandmas, for extending your love down to yet another generation. You spoil, love on, and teach our babies. You are loved by 2 generations (or 3, you great-grandmamas)! You deserve a million "thank you"s. Your wisdom and willingness to help is appreciated more than you know.

Today is Mother's day and it is important we love one another. Instead of making motherhood a competition and knocking each other's views, lets stick together. Lets build each other up and encourage one another.

This is a tough job. But it is also one of the most rewarding jobs.

Spread the love today.

Happy Mother's Day!
